There is a lot more to opening a business in the medical weed industry in Arkansas than just money, but you will need a LOT of money. Steps have been made closer to local dispensaries, and/or cultivation centers now that the Texarkana Arkansas Board of Directors have approved ordinances regarding the businesses.
The board voted to set license fees at $50,000 per year for a cultivation operation and a start-up fee of $7,500 and yearly license fee of $11,000. This will be on top of state fees for businesses in the medical marijuana industry.
Some have voiced concerned that there will be marijuana businesses all over the place, but that is just not true. Only 32 dispensaries will be permitted in the state, evenly distributed among designated zones. There are eight zones, and each zone is allowed four dispensaries. There will be a total of five grow facilities allowed in the state and there have been reports that Texarkana and Hope are both competing for investors to consider locations in those areas.
