Texas Governor Gregg Abbott has set directives for opening bars, breweries, bingo halls, and more in this next phase of reopening the Texas economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be restrictions on capacity, but little by little we gain some normalcy. Oh, Summer Camps and Little League is back on also!

After months of being closed, Governor Abbott has ordered that bars, breweries, and wineries be able to open for business and operate at 25% capacity beginning Friday, May 22.

Restaurant dining rooms that had been able to open at 25% capacity can now increase to 50% capacity.

Abbott announced the following businesses and entertainment venues can also reopen Friday:

    • Aquariums
    • Bowling alleys
    • Bingo halls
    • Natural caverns
    • Rodeos/Equestrian events
    • Skating rinks
    • Zoos

Childcare Services are allowed to resume across the state such as Daycares, Youth Programs and such can re-open immediately.

Governor Abbott also announced that Summer Camps, Vacation Bible Schools, and youth sports leagues can resume on May 31. With spectators practicing social distancing.

For professional sports, the Governor said that sports teams, leagues and organizations can apply to the state health department for approval to hold events in Texas, but those events would take place on or after May 31 and without spectators.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
