The Federal Emergency Management Agency has added 31 Texas counties to the original list of 77 in President Biden’s Emergency Declaration for the Winter Storms that struck Texas last week. Any damages, costs, or losses can be claimed. Here are the details.
This has been set up to be a simple process, individuals can apply for assistance from FEMA for any expenses related to storm damage. Apply at disasterassistance.gov, or calling 800.621.3362.
To self-report storm damage to qualify for more funding categories for the recovery process, individuals and businesses are encouraged to report all expenses and damages related to the winter weather event with this survey: tedm.texas.gov/warm
As for drinking water in Bowie County, if you or someone you know is in need, there will be cases of drinking water at the Emergency Operations Center at 1101 W. 21st Street from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm every business day until supplies are depleted. Chief Eric Schlotter said, “we will continue to get water as residents need it, with a lot of breaks still being worked on with rural systems.” There will be other outlet centers added, call 903.255.5560 to find out where water may be distributed closer to you.
