The Pleasant Grove Independent School District has reported a high number of positive COVID cases among students and staff. Due to this, the district is fogging all campuses to sanitize, and will install electrostatic foggers in some areas of the schools.

With more than 58 positive cases spread throughout the district, the administration is taking steps to keep parents informed.

In a letter to parents from PGISD Superintendent Chad Pirtle:

    August 20, 2021

Dear Pleasant Grove Hawk Parents and Guardians,

The Pleasant Grove Independent School District is glad to have our students back in class and it is great to see their excitement about the school year. Our team has worked really hard to create an exceptional learning experience for your child. I enjoy seeing dreams turn into reality for our students throughout the school year.

The purpose of this letter is to communicate with you in regards to COVID-19 and our school district. Last year, our school district was very successful in balancing the pandemic and achieving our mission of ensuring high levels of learning for all students. This year we will do the same.

We are having COVID-19 cases in our district on a daily basis. At the end of the day on Thursday, August 19, our numbers at our elementary school (10 positive cases), intermediate school (four positive cases), and middle school (nine positive cases) are where we expected them to be after the first seven days of school. Our high school (35 positive cases) has seen a higher number. These positive case numbers include both staff and students.

Our team is cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting regularly. We are also utilizing electrostatic foggers in classrooms and areas where COVID-19 positive cases were on campus. Last night the entire high school campus was fogged, and we have our other campuses scheduled to be fogged prior to the return of students and staff on Monday.

We will continue to communicate with you through our website www.pgisd.net and our mass
communication system. I thank you for the trust you put in the world class team of educators we have in the Pleasant Grove Independent School District. If you get a chance, please extend your support and love to our staff. They are wonderful and they are doing a great job.

I love being on your team!

    Chad Pirtle
    Superintendent
    Pleasant Grove Independent School District

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
