    State Police to Investigate Miller County Inmate Death

    The Miller County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that an inmate was found hanging in his cell that he occupied alone around 8:45 am on December 23, 2021. The Arkansas State Police will be leading the investigation into the death of Richard Harley, 33, of Fouke Arkansas.

    Press Release:

    On December 23, 2021, at approximately 8:45am The Miller County Detention Center staff
    was conducting cell checks when a Detention Deputy located 33-year-old Richard Harley of
    Fouke, AR hanging inside his cell which he occupied alone. Detention staff immediately
    notified Life Net EMS and the Miller County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation
    Division. Detention Deputies, Detectives, and EMS personnel began CPR but were
    unsuccessful in reviving Mr. Harley. Mr. Harley was pronounced deceased at 10:09am by
    the Miller County Coroners office.

    The Arkansas State Police was notified and will be leading the investigation. Mr. Harley’s
    body will be sent to The Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy. No foul play is suspected
    at this time.
