The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office has released the details regarding the death investigation of a man found dead in a home on Richmond Road on Saturday. William Leon White, 66, was discovered in a local home dead.

    Press Release:

On 1-8-2022, the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2100 Block of Farm to Market Road 559 (Richmond Road) in reference to a possible burglary. The resident had arrived home to find the rear door of the residence broken and an unidentified male was lying in the kitchen. Deputy Ed Steger arrived and entered the home to find a white male, later identified as William Leon White 66 years of age of Texarkana, TX, deceased on the kitchen floor. Due to the circumstances, Deputy Steger contacted the Criminal Investigative Division and the scene was treated as a potential crime scene. William Leon White was related to the occupants of the home and is often homeless, travelling by foot. Evidence indicated that he had warmed himself near an outdoor firepit at the residence before being injured. William Leon White then forced entry into the home and attempted to treat his injuries, that were severe. Mr. White succumb to his injuries and died in the home. An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the Peace Todd Fore and William Leon White was sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences at Dallas. At the time of this release, his cause of death has not been determined. Evidence suggests that no foul play was involved; however, this case will be thoroughly investigated until a definitive cause of death can be established.
