The Texarkana Texas and Texarkana Arkansas Police Departments are excited to announce that they will jointly host the Region 20 United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) trials in Texarkana next week. More than 25 K9 teams from across the region will compete in a full week of activities showcasing the remarkable skills of police dogs.

Two events during the week will be open to the public, offering residents an opportunity to witness the impressive abilities of these K9 officers in action:

    • Monday, April 22 at 8:00 a.m. at Grady T. Wallace Park: The public can watch the Obedience event, which includes off-lead healing, commands while walking, and distance control.
    • Tuesday, April 23 at 8:00 a.m. at Four States Fairgrounds: The Criminal Apprehension event features the apprehension of a fleeing suspect, holding a suspect and releasing on command, as well as recall and protection of the handler.

Both events are free to watch, providing a unique opportunity to see the K9 teams’ extraordinary training and abilities firsthand. Organizers ask that attendees refrain from bringing their own dogs to the events.

“We encourage everyone to come out and see what our dogs can do,” said organizers. “It’s a chance to support our local police departments and learn more about the crucial role these K9 teams play in keeping our community safe.”

Don’t miss this chance to witness these incredible police dogs in action and show support for the K9 teams as they compete in Texarkana next week!

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
