The holiday spirit shone brightly during Texarkana’s Annual Downtown Christmas Parade on December 2, and Main Street Texarkana has officially announced the winners of the festive event.
Participants competed in three categories with the theme “Through the Decades”: Marching Band/Schools, Commercial, and Non-commercial, with dazzling floats, music, and cheer that delighted crowds that were lining the streets of downtown.
Marching Band/Schools Category
- 1st Place: Pleasant Grove High School Marching Band
- 2nd Place: Pleasant Grove High School Cheerleaders
- 3rd Place: Arkansas High School Marching Band
The Pleasant Grove High School Marching Band claimed top honors, wowing the crowd with their spirited performance. Their cheerleaders brought home second place, showcasing their energy and precision, while Arkansas High School Marching Band rounded out the category with an impressive showing.
Commercial Category
- 1st Place: Abernathy
- 2nd Place: Retreat Healthcare Services
- 3rd Place: Christian Care Center
Abernathy’s float dazzled spectators with its creativity and holiday flair, earning the top spot in the Commercial Category. Retreat Healthcare Services and Christian Care Center followed closely, impressing judges with their festive contributions.
Non-commercial Category
- 1st Place: St. James Day School
- 2nd Place: Cornerstone Baptist Church
- 3rd Place: Mount Grove Baptist Youth Ministry
St. James Day School took first place in the Non-commercial Category with their heartwarming display, followed by Cornerstone Baptist Church and Mount Grove Baptist Youth Ministry, both delivering memorable holiday-themed entries.
This year’s parade highlighted the creativity, talent, and community spirit of Texarkana, bringing residents and visitors together to celebrate the season in style. Congratulations to all the winners and participants for making the 2024 Downtown Christmas Parade a magical start to the holidays!
