A 16-year-old was arrested Thursday night after officers responded to reports of gunfire at the Pecan Ridge Apartments. Multiple rounds were fired into the complex, striking two apartments, though no injuries were reported.
A short time later, Officers Cutter Webb and Cody Doss spotted four young males walking a couple of blocks from the scene. One of them had a noticeable bulge under his shirt, prompting officers to conduct a pat-down for weapons. As officers approached, three of the individuals took off running.
After a brief foot chase, officers apprehended one of the fleeing suspects, a 16-year-old male. Upon searching him, they discovered that the bulge under his shirt was a Glock .40 caliber pistol equipped with a 50-round drum magazine.
The teen was taken into custody and transported to a juvenile detention center, where he was charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon and Evading Arrest.
Authorities praised the quick response of officers, whose vigilance helped remove a dangerous weapon from the streets. The investigation remains ongoing, and police are working to identify the other individuals involved.
