A 19-year-old man has been arrested following a violent stabbing that left a 44-year-old victim severely injured and missing a hand, according to the Texarkana Texas Police Department.
Officers were called to the 500 block of Lumpkin Street around 4:22 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, after residents were startled awake by loud noises. They discovered an injured man on their front porch suffering from multiple stab wounds. Authorities say the man’s left hand had been severed. Officers quickly applied a tourniquet at the scene before the victim was rushed to the hospital for emergency care.
Following a trail of blood, police were led to a nearby residence on Waterman Street. After obtaining a search warrant, investigators entered the home and found two men inside along with physical evidence that pointed to the assault having occurred at that location. Both individuals were brought in for questioning.
Nineteen-year-old Deroyce Brown was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police determined the second man at the scene was not involved in the incident and was released.

As of Wednesday afternoon, officers say the victim’s severed hand has still not been located. The case remains under investigation.
