Two-Day Manhunt Ends with Arrest in Bowie County Woods

A two-day manhunt across Bowie County ended Tuesday morning with the arrest of 20-year-old Brandon Leshawn Davis of Texarkana.

According to the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, the case began early Monday morning, August 11, when Texarkana Texas Police attempted to stop a stolen vehicle inside the city limits. The driver, later identified as Davis, led officers on a pursuit that ended on County Road 2220. He then fled on foot into a wooded area.

Multiple law enforcement agencies—including TTPD, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Department of Corrections Telford Unit—spent hours searching, even using tracking dogs. Davis was spotted several times over the next 24 hours, but each time, he escaped deeper into the woods.

The break came Tuesday morning, August 12, around 8:24 a.m., when Davis was seen near the end of County Road 2220. Deputies quickly set up a perimeter, with help from Texas Game Warden McMillen and his K9, as well as the Miller County Sheriff’s Office and their K9 unit. This time, the search ended successfully—Davis was found in the dense brush and surrendered without further incident.

He was booked into the Bowie County Jail for Evading Arrest, Failure to Identify, and is being held on felony warrants from multiple agencies.

The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office credited the arrest to teamwork between local, state, and regional agencies, saying their cooperation often leads to “positive outcomes” for the community.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
