A 19-year-old man was shot and killed late Sunday night at the Ridge Apartments in Texarkana, Arkansas. A 21-year-old suspect has been arrested.
According to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, officers responded to multiple 911 calls shortly after 11:00 p.m. on August 24 reporting a shooting at the complex, located at 701 N. Oats Street.
When officers arrived, they found the victim, Gary Nichols, 19, lying outside with a gunshot wound. Several bystanders were already attempting to render aid. Police took over life-saving efforts until LifeNet EMS arrived, but Nichols succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives and crime scene investigators were called in and quickly identified Xavian Banks, 21, as the suspect. Banks was taken into custody later that night and charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree. He is currently being held at the Miller County Jail.
