Texarkana will light up with celebration this weekend as the community gathers for the annual Veterans Day Parade and Extravaganza on Saturday, November 8, honoring local heroes and their families. This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of Lt. Colonel Don Ruggles, a beloved figure whose service and leadership left a lasting mark on the region. The parade kicks off downtown at 11:00 a.m., following the classic 2025 route — the old-school long march up and past the steps of the Federal Building — and organizers are encouraging everyone to line the streets, especially near the post office, to show their support. Following the parade, the celebration continues with an afternoon of food, family fun, and live entertainment, all free until 4:00 p.m. Then, as evening falls, the focus shifts to Front Street Junction, where Jesse Jenkins & Friends will open for country music icon Tracy Lawrence on the Michelob Ultra Stage, bringing his chart-topping hits to downtown Texarkana.
