Two Dead and One Injured in Domestic-Related Shooting at Texarkana Aluminum Plant

Authorities in Nash, Texas say a domestic-related shooting at an industrial facility Tuesday morning left two people dead and one woman injured, before the suspect turned the gun on himself.

According to Nash Police Chief Kelly Dial, officers were called to Texarkana Aluminum at 300 Alumax Drive around 6:37 a.m. on May 12 after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found two deceased men and a critically injured woman in the parking lot.

Investigators identified the deceased as 40-year-old Wendell Champion Jr. of Hope, Arkansas, and 48-year-old Eddie Hill Jr. of Texarkana, Texas. The injured woman, 37-year-old Candis Champion, also of Hope, Arkansas, was transported to a Texarkana hospital, where she is reported to be in stable condition.

Police say the incident was a domestic dispute involving Wendell and Candis Champion, who was an employee at the plant. Investigators believe Wendell Champion confronted his wife at the facility, where Hill attempted to intervene and was shot and killed. Authorities say the suspect then shot his wife before taking his own life.

Officials confirmed there are no additional suspects and no ongoing threat to the public.

Records show Wendell Champion had previously been convicted of first-degree murder in Harris County, Texas, in 2010 and was released on parole in 2025.

    The investigation remains ongoing.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
