This weekend in Texarkana is HUGE! Thanks to our community partners at Tony Langford Roofing, Whiskey River Country Club, and Hot Tails Crawfish here is the rundown for the weekend of June 26 & 27.
For the first time in roughly three decades, the Texarkana Airshow returns to the region this Saturday, June 27, turning Texarkana Regional Airport into what may be the biggest one-day event of the summer. Built as part of the America 250 celebration, the day is designed to be more than just airplanes overhead — it’s an all-day experience with gates opening at 10 a.m., live music beginning at noon with National Recording artist, Wade Bowen on stage at 2:45 pm, and aerial performances taking over the skies later in the afternoon. Visitors can expect military demonstrations, aerobatic acts, historic aircraft, vendors, food, and enough aviation horsepower to make you remember why little kids still stop and point at airplanes.
The entertainment lineup stretches well beyond the runway. Musical performances include Heather Linn and the Deacons, Cam Allen, and Texas country favorite Wade Bowen before the flying portion begins. On the ground there’s also a Run the Runway 5K, Ride the Runway activities, barbecue competition, aircraft displays, and family activities throughout the day. One warning: bring water, wear the hat, and plan ahead — because the weather may cooperate, but late June in Texarkana is still going to feel like late June in Texarkana.
If your ideal Saturday involves less jet fuel and more hot sauce, downtown has you covered. The TXK Wings & Blues Festival hits Front Street Plaza on Saturday and brings together two things Texarkana has never struggled to support — good food and live music. Expect downtown to fill up with wing vendors serving every style imaginable while blues music sets the soundtrack for a long summer evening in the middle of the city.
The festival is expected to be one of those events that feels uniquely Texarkana — casual, local, loud in all the right ways, and built around gathering with people you know (and people you’ll probably end up knowing by the end of the night). If you’re looking for the easy joke this weekend, Texarkana is offering two kinds of wings: chicken wings downtown and high-flying wings at the airport. The real answer may be doing both.
