An investigation into a shooting that occurred Saturday night has resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old Texarkana man following a high-risk search and arrest warrant operation by the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department SWAT Team.
According to TAPD, officers were dispatched around 11:20 p.m. August 15 to reports of gunfire in the area of the 600 block of Price Lane.
A vehicle carrying a person who had suffered a gunshot wound subsequently left the area and crashed into a machine shop at 420 Senator Street.
Emergency personnel responded to the crash, and the shooting victim received emergency medical treatment, including the application of a tourniquet, before being transported for additional medical care.
TAPD said its investigation into the shooting led to warrants being issued for 33-year-old Decoyae DeWayne Mitchell.

Mitchell is wanted on charges of:
- Battery in the First Degree
- Terroristic Act — 20 counts
Because of the violent nature of the alleged offense, TAPD’s SWAT Team was called in to execute a high-risk search and arrest warrant at an apartment at 3302 Washington Street, where investigators said Mitchell was known to reside.
The operation was conducted Wednesday morning, August 19.
According to police, officers located Mitchell inside the apartment and took him into custody without incident.
TAPD said the investigation remains ongoing and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
