The Kansas City Southern’s “Holiday Express” returns to Texarkana in 2016 to the delight of children and adults alike. The Santa Train will visit the twin cities and will be open to the public on December 10th from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m..
The K.C.S. Holiday Express is the six-car train that takes Santa Claus and his elves to scheduled stops in communities on the company’s rail network. Guests are able to tour three of the cars filled with holiday displays on the train and visit with Santa Claus. Each event is free, open to the public and no tickets are required.
With every scheduled stop, a charitable contribution will made to the local Salvation Army to provide warm clothes and other necessities for local children in need.
According to the K.C.S. website,
The Holiday Express was created in 2001 as volunteers dedicated more than 8,000 hours to transform retired rail cars. Today, these cars feature a smiling tank car named Rudy; a flatcar carrying Santa’s sleigh, reindeer and a miniature village; a gingerbread boxcar; the elves’ workshop; a reindeer stable; and a little red caboose.
Being that there is very little room for traffic on the K.C.S. Railyard, transportation to and from the Holiday Express Train is done by shuttle service. Visitors will park and ride from Tiger Stadium at Grim Park on West 12th Street. More details on shuttle service coming closer to December.
