Sunday, February 19th participants in Texarkana’s “10th annual Run the Line Half-Marathon” will zig and zag thru our two cities in two states running the 13.1-mile course. Partnership For The Pathway and the Team Texarkana Running Club organize the annual event and volunteers have been hard at work getting ready for this weekend.

This is one of the best-organized running events in the Ark-La-Tex with participants coming from miles around to run the course. The 2017 Texarkana Run the Line Half-Marathon is one of only 20 races in the 2017 Arkansas Grand Prix Series! The starting point will be at the intersection of Broad and Main Streets in downtown Texarkana. (GPS location: 201 W Broad Street, Texarkana, Texas). Starting time for 2017 is 8:00 a.m. for those that will finish the race in 3 hours or less. There will be 2 waves to start based on mile time and 4 pace groups. There will be and early start at 7:30 a.m for walkers, physically challenged athletes, and those needing an extra 30 minutes to finish.

There will be lots of fun and entertainment along the course with DJ’s, Karaoke, and other surprises for participants at the different mile markers along the way.

Organizers add,

This is a unique opportunity to run in one race that goes through two states. The course is relatively flat with a few long inclines. It goes through both Cities of Texarkana with a short portion of the race on the Arkansas/Texas stateline. The race is primarily on asphalt and includes the Nix Creek Trail, the Phillip McDougal Trail in Spring Lake Park, and city streets with clear markings.

Now, on race-day Sunday, participants in the Run the Line Half-Marathon must be 12 years of age. Strollers and dogs are not allowed on the course during the race on Sunday and everyone must finish by 11:00 a.m. So don’t miss the fun-run for everyone else, the KIDS RUN THE LINE TOO event scheduled for Saturday, February 18, at 4:00 p.m.
