This year the Sparks in the Park Independence Day Fireworks Show will be held almost 10 days before the Fourth of July on Saturday June 25 at the Four States Fairgrounds in Texarkana.

The reason for the early date… COST.

Gates will open to the Fairgrounds at 4:00 p.m. on June 25, fireworks at 9:30 p.m. and admission is free.

Some of the activities scheduled are bounce houses, climbing wall, the giant sandbox, children’s games, patriotic tattoos, face-painting, Kiddie train, beanbag toss, tanks and trucks from Red River Army Depot will be on display, and the Four States Fairgrounds Ag Learning Center will be open.

There will also be a Hot Wheels & Cool Rides car show with many local auto enthusiasts, and car clubs showing some of the finest vehicles around the area.

Contests for this year include a “Best Homemade Apple Pie” competition, and a “Best Homemade Ice Cream” contest. Both contests will pay in gift cards, $100 for first place, $75 for second, and $50 for third place.

Live music this year from The Dusty Rose Band, and Relentless.

Fireworks show will begin promptly at 9:30 P.M.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
