    57th Annual Jonquil Festival Set to Bloom at Historic Washington State Park

    Spring will be in full swing as the 57th Annual Jonquil Festival returns to the Historic Washington State Park on March 14 and 15, 2025. This beloved tradition, known for its vibrant blooms and historic charm, promises a packed schedule of entertainment, crafts, food, and family-friendly activities.

    Schedule of Events:
    Friday, March 14
    Festival hours run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Throughout the day, HAM radio enthusiasts can enjoy live demonstrations, and history buffs can step back in time with a Civil War encampment from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Four States Iron Munchers will be showcasing their blacksmithing skills at the Blacksmith Shop, giving visitors a glimpse of traditional metalwork in action.

    Saturday, March 15
    Saturday’s festivities kick off at 9 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. Alongside the ongoing HAM radio demonstrations and Civil War encampment, classic car lovers won’t want to miss the Jonquil Festival Car Show, running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Washington Vintage Dancers will take the stage from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., adding a touch of old-time charm. Karaoke enthusiasts can register at 2 p.m. for a chance to take the mic at 3 p.m.

    Families can enjoy Surry rides from 9 a.m. to 3:40 p.m., with tickets available at the Candle Shop for $5 per person—children under six ride free. Historic tours will be available throughout the festival, allowing visitors to explore landmarks like the 1874 Courthouse, the Royston Log Cabin, and the Weapons Museum.

    Good Eats and Great Tunes
    Williams Tavern Restaurant will serve up a delicious lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Friday, diners can enjoy Chicken Marsala Penne, sliced ham, pork loin, red beans and rice, assorted vegetables, and desserts. Saturday’s menu will feature beef tips with rice, meatloaf, sausage, potatoes and onions, grilled chicken with rice pilaf, and more.

    The entertainment tent will be alive with music and dance. On Friday, visitors can enjoy the tunes of The Nighthawk Band. Saturday’s lineup includes Dancetastics Studio from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., The Nighthawk Band from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Washington Vintage Dancers from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., and the Karaoke Contest from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Adding to the festive atmosphere, Railhead Ned and The Hempstead County Melody Boys will be strolling the grounds, providing impromptu performances.
