    6-22-2020 – Updated COVID 19 Numbers for Texarkana Area

    Numbers continue to rise in the Texarkana area, as expected with more testing being made available. However, though the number of positive cases continues to rise, so do recoveries, but unfortunately also the deaths. Today, Miller County Judge Cathy Harrison ordered the closure of the Miller County Courthouse for the second time after two employees tested positive.

    The latest numbers for Texarkana have Miller County reporting 91 positive cases, 70 recoveries, and 2 deaths. Bowie county reports 232 positive COVID-19 cases, with 119 recoveries and 15 related deaths. Cass County has a total of 35 cases with 31 recoveries and two deaths. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice reports 0 active positive cases at the Barry B. Telford Unit.

    TEXARKANA, TX—Bowie County Emergency Operations Center reports a total of 232 positive COVID-19 cases, with 119 recoveries and 15 related deaths. Cass County has a total 35 cases with 31 recoveries, and two deaths. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice reports 0 active positive case at the Barry B. Telford Unit.

    The Business Survey to gauge Economic Impact is still ongoing. All businesses in Bowie County are invited to submit a survey, to report positive or negative impacts to their business.     Residents in Bowie and Cass County are urged to continue following Governor Abbott’s Executive Orders and following CDC guidelines for social distancing, handwashing, and sanitizing.
