Authorities are investigating a pair of vehicle burglaries that led to thousands of dollars in fraudulent purchases, and detectives from both sides of the state line are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects involved.
According to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department, the first incident occurred last week when suspects entered an open garage and stole items from a vehicle parked inside. Within an hour of the theft, the victim’s stolen credit cards were used at the Walgreens on North State Line Avenue to purchase a large number of gift cards. The suspects also attempted multiple online purchases totaling over $3,000.
As if one hit wasn’t enough, the same suspects returned the next night—again targeting a vehicle in Texarkana, Texas. Stolen cards from that burglary were also used at the same Walgreens location.
Detectives from both the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) and the Texarkana Texas Police Department (TTPD) are working closely to identify the individuals responsible. While security images have been released, authorities note that the footage is not very clear, but it’s the best available.
Anyone with information is urged to contact TAPD or TTPD. You can always contact Crime Stoppers at 903.793.STOP(7867), you can remain anonymous and could get reward money!
