Fugitive Arrested with Assistance from Telford Canines

The Bowie County Sheriff’s Department initiated a search today for a felony fugitive out of Longview Texas, Chase Cook. When officers made contact he ran into the woods and it became a manhunt.

Reports from BowieCountyNow.com are that Officers with B.C.S.O., the Hooks Texas Police Department, Texas D.P.S., and the Canines from the Telford Unit in New Boston Texas participated in the search and arrest of Cook.

We contacted Sheriff James Prince and he told us, “Cook was wanted out of Longview Texas for Probation Violation on a Forgery Charge.” Cook was reported to work for one of the companies on Highway 82 located near the R.R.A.D entrance just outside of Hooks, Texas.

    Sheriff Prince posted to Facebook:

Deputy Chad Ford and Hooks PD units were enroute to the TexAmericas property, where the old Red River Army Depot main gate was at. They were looking for a person who had a Probation Violation for Forgery, out of Longview. Chad spotted the guy walking. He approached him and attempted to arrest him. The guy ran across Hwy 82, into the woods to the west of the old main gate. With the help of Hooks, the Highway Patrol, constable Chris Lee and others the wooded area was surrounded. Telford Prison brought their hounds and horses. They immediately got on his trail. He ran out of the woods where the Telford Prison Warden was at. He then ran just a little further and was caught. He is now in the Bi-State jail, eating my good food and sleeping on one of our warm bunks. Gregg County will be coming to pick him up, to take him back to Longview. Good job to all officers involved! Teamwork at its best!
