The American Shakespeare Center is considered the international home for the study of Shakespeare’s works. The A.S.C. Lonely Hearts Troupe will be performing three shows in the Texarkana area in March including The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and Romeo and Juliet.
Fans of Shakespearean theater do not want to miss this opportunity to enjoy these performances from the American Shakespeare Center “Hungry Hearts Troupe” as they visit the Ark-La-Tex. On Wednesday, March 1, at Texas High School on Summerhill Road in Texarkana the troupe will perform “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder with showtime at 7:00 p.m. The troupe will then present two performances at Historic Washington State Park, Romeo & Juliet on Friday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m., and The Two Gentlemen of Verona on Saturday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m.
The American Shakespeare Center is an internationally recognized home for the study of Shakespeare’s works using their original staging conditions — with a focus on the language, using a stage unimpeded by sets, and with the audience sharing the same light as the actors. As an essential part of our mission to be a place to enjoy and to study Shakespeare in performance, the American Shakespeare Center is pleased to open its rehearsals to scholars, students, and researchers who wish to deepen their understanding of the process of staging a play. We invite those who would like to see a rehearsal to contact the Education department to schedule their visits.
