Single parents enrolled in trade schools, community colleges, or universities across Arkansas and in Bowie County, Texas, can now apply for the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) Spring 2025 scholarship. This opportunity provides up to $1,600 in direct financial aid to support single-parent students.

These funds are meant to assist in managing daily expenses like child care, groceries, and transportation while they continue their education. Applications are open until December 1 at aspsf.org/applynow.

With ASPSF scholarships, recipients benefit from more than financial support; they also receive mentoring, resources, and professional development. This year alone, ASPSF awarded over 800 scholarships, totaling $1.1 million, thanks to generous community donations.

Scholarships are available to single parents pursuing certificates, associate degrees, or bachelor’s degrees leading to sustainable careers. Eligibility requirements include a GED or high school diploma, a minimum 2.0 GPA, and low to moderate income. For more details, visit aspsf.org.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
