Arrest Made in 2024 Ash Street Homicide Following DNA Match

More than a year after the tragic death of a local man, the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department has announced an arrest in the February 2024 Ash Street homicide.

Eighteen-year-old Jayden Arnold was taken into custody on April 16, 2025, in connection with the killing of Pedro M. Triana Sr., who was found dead in his home on the morning of February 12, 2024. Officers responded to the scene in the 800 block of Ash Street around 10:00 a.m. that day, where they discovered Mr. Triana deceased under what authorities called “suspicious circumstances.”

Detectives collected critical DNA evidence from the scene and submitted it to the Arkansas State Crime Lab. Over a year later, on April 14, 2025, investigators were notified that a match had been identified through the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), linking Arnold to the crime.

“This arrest is the result of tireless investigative work and the continued advancements in forensic science,” said Officer Kristen Schultz in a statement released by TAPD. “We’re incredibly grateful to the community for their patience and support throughout this process.”

The department is urging anyone with additional information about the case to come forward as the investigation continues.

No further details about the motive or circumstances surrounding the homicide have been released at this time.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
