The Bowie County Firefighter’s Basketball Tournament this weekend is a fund raiser with proceeds going to the newly developed Ark-La-Tex 100 Club, which helps fire departments in our area, but it did not start out for that.
Originally the tournament was planned as a fund raiser to aid fire fighter Bruce Woodward in his battle with cancer, but Bruce wants the money to go to Ark-La-Tex 100 to help others.
The funds raised stay local.
Beginning at 8:00 A.M. at Redwater High School, area departments will compete in a double elimination tournament for bragging rights and a really cool trophy. We will also be serving hamburgers and hot dogs from 11-2. There will also be fire trucks for the kids to look at and interact with up close.
