A Bowie County man lost his life early Monday morning in a tragic hit-and-run near Malta, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The incident occurred around 5:45 a.m. on November 25 near the intersection of US Highway 82 and County Road 3111, just west of Malta. Investigators say the 44-year-old man was pushing a motorcycle along the shoulder of the highway, heading west toward DeKalb, when a vehicle struck him.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet identified the driver involved, as the vehicle fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.

The DPS is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Witnesses or individuals with knowledge of the crash are encouraged to contact the Texarkana Highway Patrol communications office at 903-255-5701.

This fatality marks a grim reminder of the dangers on East Texas roadways and the importance of driver accountability. Authorities continue their investigation, hoping to bring closure to the victim’s loved ones.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
