Texarkana residents are invited to spice things up for a good cause later this month at the Bridge City Project Chili Cookoff, happening Friday, January 23 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, at First Baptist Church in downtown Texarkana.
The event will be hosted by the Texarkana Homeless Commission and will raise awareness and support for efforts addressing homelessness in the community.
This year’s cookoff features a fun, nostalgic twist, with the 2026 theme set as “80s Movies & TV.” Teams are encouraged to get creative with their chili booths, costumes, and décor inspired by iconic films and television shows from the decade.
Awards will be presented for Overall Best Flavor, People’s Choice, Best Use of Theme, and additional categories. Attendees can also look forward to raffle prizes, SINGO, and plenty of opportunities to sample chili while enjoying the festive atmosphere.
Those interested in competing can scan the QR code provided on event materials to register their team.
Organizers say the event is designed to be a fun, family-friendly way to bring the community together while supporting an important local cause.
