Main Street Texarkana has announced that this year’s Christmas Parade—originally scheduled for Monday, December 1 at 7 p.m.—has been postponed due to a forecast of cold temperatures and rainy weather. After reviewing conditions and prioritizing the safety of parade participants and the thousands of families who line the route each year, organizers decided to move the event to Monday, December 15 at 7 p.m.
The parade is one of Texarkana’s most beloved holiday traditions, drawing floats, marching groups, and visitors from across the region. Main Street Texarkana said the choice to postpone wasn’t easy but emphasized that the well-being of the community comes first.
“We know how much everyone looks forward to this celebration,” the organization shared, “but ensuring the safety and comfort of our participants and spectators is our top priority.”
Organizers thanked the community for its understanding, flexibility, and continued support. Residents are encouraged to stay safe and warm as the incoming weather system moves through the area, and to mark their calendars for the rescheduled parade date on December 15.
