CODE RED – Animals in Danger of Being Euthanized at Local Shelter Thursday July 21

0

Things have gotten real bad real fast at the Texarkana Animal Shelter. A large number of animals have been scheduled to be euthanized on July 21. Our understanding from a couple of local rescues that were informed of the mass killing at the last minute is the cut-off to save the animals is 5:00 p.m..

In a post shared on Facebook by many of the local rescues:

Our shelter has been in need of desperate repairs. This has recently caused the downstairs to be closed and has reduced the amount of holding space for animals.
There are a lot of animals in danger of being put down Thursday if not adopted. Also, the hold time has been reduced to 5 days.
***If you are able to adopt – this is the time to consider it!
***If you are able to foster with one of our local rescue groups, this will help more animals be pulled from the shelter and saved.

This is very sad and scary for many pets’ futures over the next several days!

Thanks to Mimi with Muttley Crew Rescue, there are many videos showcasing the at risk dogs. You can find and follow her on Facebook – “Mimi MuttleyCrew Campbell

It is our understanding that during this time of crisis, vetting is sponsored and adoption fees are only $20 for cats and $40 for dogs, but there are a lot of local rescues that are willing to help with those costs. If you have the desire to save one of these sweet lives, reach out now. The number for the Animal Care & Adoption Center is (870) 773-6388,
