The Texarkana Texas Parks and Recreation Department, along with Tatum Excavating Company have begun draining the pond at Spring Lake Park in part of the City’s Capital Improvement Plan.
After the pond is drained, the area will be cleaned of all trash and debris from over the years and dredged to a depth of 10 feet to create a healthier eco-system for the lake. The Fish and aquatic life from the pond will be logged and recorded, and then relocated to a similar environment according to a Texas Parks and Wildlife approved plan of action. Ducks and geese are expected to naturally migrate to another location and eventually return once the project is complete.
