East Texas Woman’s Suspicious Death During Florida Vacation Under Investigation

An East Texas woman with ties to Texarkana has died under suspicious circumstances on a Key West Florida Beach and her death is being investigated by detectives as a possible homicide.

Candice Cooper, 38, of Lindale, Texas was on a “spur of the moment vacation” to Key West Florida with Bill Baker, 48. Baker told police that he saw Cooper floating unresponsive in the surf at Smathers Beach on Key West and he pulled her to shore where he called 911 and began CPR. She was taken to a local hospital where she was declared dead.

Cooper’s son, Colton Langford, 19, of Texarkana Texas, has been in contact with detectives trying to get to the bottom of what happened to his mother. Investigators have stated that preliminary findings lead them to believe that Cooper’s death was possibly a homicide.

    Colton told us,

My mom was a beautiful free spirit that loved everyone for who they were. She helped anyone in need and had a really great smile that lit up every room she walked into. She’ll be missed by many.

No arrests have been made and the investigation continues. Full results from the autopsy are pending.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
