Residents looking for a safe and environmentally responsible way to dispose of old electronics will have an opportunity next month as the City of Texarkana, Texas Parks and Recreation Department hosts its Spring Community Yard Sale and Electronic Recycling event.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Spring Lake Park, with electronic recycling serving as a key focus.
Recycling services will be provided by E-Tech Waste Solutions, offering residents a convenient way to properly dispose of unwanted or outdated electronics. Organizers emphasize that responsible recycling helps prevent harmful materials from entering landfills while allowing valuable components to be recovered and reused.
Accepted items include desktop computers, laptops, tablets, servers, networking equipment, monitors, televisions, printers, phones, gaming consoles, sound systems, and small household electronics such as microwaves. Cables, cords, and power adapters associated with these devices will also be accepted.
Certain items, including older CRT televisions and monitors, will require a recycling fee based on size. However, some materials will not be accepted, including batteries from powered tools, alkaline batteries, light bulbs, and devices containing Freon such as refrigerators and air conditioners.
In addition to the recycling services, the event will also feature a community yard sale, giving residents the chance to declutter their homes while connecting with others in the community. Vendor spaces are available for $15 per 20×20 space, with registration required in person at the Southwest Center. Registration will close at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, and food vendors will not be permitted.
Organizers say the combined event offers a practical way for residents to clean out unwanted items while making environmentally conscious choices.
