Texarkana will once again come together in the fight against breast cancer during the Fifth Annual Katina R. Livingston Breast Cancer Awareness Race on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The event will take place on the campus of Texas A&M University–Texarkana, 7101 University Avenue, with the race and walk beginning at 8:00 a.m.

The annual event is hosted by the Tough Kookie Foundation, the nonprofit founded by Katina R. Livingston to support and encourage women battling breast cancer. The race honors Katina’s fight while raising awareness and providing hope for survivors and families affected by the disease.

Organizers say the race is open to participants of all ages and abilities, whether running, walking, or showing support on the sidelines. In its fifth year, the event has grown into a meaningful Texarkana tradition that combines remembrance, education, and community spirit.

Registration information and additional details about the event are available through the Tough Kookie Foundation and Texas A&M University–Texarkana.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
