The annual “Toys for Tots Ride” takes place this Sunday, December 13 at 10:00 am. Dwight Nevill started this ride over 30 years ago, and sadly we lost Dwight to Cancer. The Nevill family and his right-hand man Al Green and bunch of volunteers that had been with Dwight for decades have had some mighty big boots to fill, and have done an outstanding job organizing this year’s event.
With the pandemic affecting everyone, this year the Marine Corp Toys for Tots will be serving 4,000 children in the area and is in real need. On Sunday, bring a new unwrapped toy to the Central Mall parking lot near J.C. Penny. The ride starts at 10:00 am and will arrive back at the mall parking lot somewhere around 11:00 am. There will be food and entertainment afterward at the Elks Lodge on New Boston Road.
Dwight would sure be proud of all of the planning and effort that has gone into this year’s events, especially with the added pressures of the pandemic. Our friend Al Green stopped by the clubhouse at Rocky Creek Outdoors to talk with us about the ride this Sunday, the route the bikes and other entries will be taking, the sponsors, and more.
