Anglers know that the colder weather make the Crappie bite, and hopes are that on January 14, 2017 they will be biting for the first annual Crappie Tournament hosted by the Maud Volunteer Fire Department.

The tournament will take place on January 14th with anglers leaving out of Malden Landing on Lake Wright Patman. Starting at safe light and fishing until weigh-in at 2:00 p.m. Must be in weigh-in line by 2:15 p.m.

There is a $30 entry fee with 80% payback and an optional $5 big fish buy-in with 100% buy-in.

Top 3 places and big fish will pay. 7 biggest fish will be weighed.

NO LIVE BAIT! Fishermen are only allowed to use artificial bait.

All proceeds will benefit the Maud Volunteer Fire Department. For additional information, tournament rules and regulations, or to enter the tournament contact Cole Ogden at 903.276.3049 or email cole.ogden@txkusa.org.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
