The holiday season is about to come alive in Texarkana as the highly anticipated CPKC Holiday Express rolls into town on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. The festive event will take place at the 4th Street Crossing, bringing with it a dazzling six-car train, live performances, and a spirit of goodwill.

This year’s edition of the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern (CPKC) Holiday Train Tour, fondly known as the “KCS Holiday Express,” promises to be a spectacular celebration of the season. The train will make a brief but memorable stop in Texarkana as part of its journey to spread holiday cheer through Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi. The stop is scheduled to feature live musical performances by the chart-topping band American Authors and Grammy-nominated artist K.T. Tunstall, making it a must-attend event for music lovers.

In addition to the music and glittering lights, the Holiday Express is known for its deeper purpose—raising donations and awareness for local food banks and children’s charities. At each stop along its route, the train supports non-profits that help families in need, making Texarkana’s participation in the event a chance for residents to give back during the holiday season.

“This is not just about the train, the lights, and the music,” said event organizers. “It’s about bringing our community together to support those who need it most, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to make a difference.”

The CPKC Holiday Express train will arrive in Texarkana at 4:30 p.m., with performances beginning shortly after. The musical performances will run until 5:15 p.m., with the train departing Texarkana at 5:30 p.m. to continue its journey to Shreveport, Louisiana.

While the popular tours of the train cars will not be available this year, attendees will still be able to enjoy the vibrant performances and the beautifully decorated train, which serves as a beacon of holiday cheer. The event is free to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend and bring donations for local food banks to help support those in need.

Since its launch in 1999, the CPKC Holiday Train has raised over $22.5 million and collected more than 5 million pounds of food for charities across North America. Texarkana’s participation is a testament to the community’s commitment to helping others and spreading the joy of the holiday season.

For additional event details and updates, visitors can check the newly launched Railroad Website, which offers up-to-date information on the Holiday Train Tour.

Don’t miss this chance to be part of a cherished holiday tradition that brings the community together, celebrates the season, and makes a positive impact. Join us on December 2 at 4:30 p.m. at 4th Street Crossing and experience the magic of the CPKC Holiday Express!

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
