A juvenile is in custody following a tense situation at Texarkana Regional Airport this morning. Authorities say the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) responded to a disturbance call at the airport and found the individual armed with a long gun.
Further investigation led officers to discover a second firearm inside a vehicle associated with the juvenile.
According to a statement from the airport, the suspect entered from the general aviation side carrying an AR-style rifle and demanded an airplane. Fortunately, the quick actions of the Signature FBO staff and a local pilot led to the juvenile being subdued without any injuries.
The TAPD has not yet released details regarding the juvenile’s identity or potential charges. Authorities confirm that the airport remains open and secure, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
“This is a developing story,” officials stated, “and further information will be released as it becomes available.”
Texarkana Regional Airport officials expressed gratitude to those involved, emphasizing the importance of swift action in ensuring the safety of the community.
