A shooting incident occurred near the intersection of Moores Lane and Sidney Street earlier today that sent the Pleasant Grove Middle School into Lockdown. The shooting suspect was arrested and the lockdown was lifted.

We are on the scene of a homicide on Sidney Drive, just north of Moores Lane. It’s very early in the investigation but we have the suspected shooter in custody. The victim died at the scene. We believe this was a carry-over from a fight that occurred earlier today at Texas High School. We will update you with more information on this developing situation as we can.
Witnesses stated that a large group of people was fighting when one man produced a handgun and fired multiple rounds. Texarkana FYI has no further information at this time.

Today at 2:00 p.m. the Pleasant Grove Middle School campus went into lockdown as a precautionary measure due to a shooting in a neighborhood near campus. We have been notified by the Texarkana Texas Police Department that the suspect has been taken into custody and there is no additional threat to the area. Pleasant Grove Middle School is no longer on lockdown. Thank you to our local law enforcement personnel and our parents for your support throughout this event.
