The annual Megan Daniel Memorial Softball Tournament is set to take place this Saturday, June 22nd, at the DeKalb City Park fields. This heartfelt event commemorates the life of Megan Daniel, a beloved community member who tragically lost her life in a car accident during her senior year in 2020. Alongside Megan, her friends Ashlin Cox and Katie Jo Vaughn are also remembered during this special occasion.

The Megan Daniel Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit 501c organization, organizes the tournament to celebrate Megan’s memory and raise funds for local graduating seniors. This year, the foundation proudly awarded four $1000.00 scholarships split between New Boston ISD and DeKalb ISD. These scholarships provide crucial support to students pursuing higher education.

Participants in the tournament can also look forward to exciting raffle prizes, including cornhole boards, a custom engraved Ruger America Ranch Gen2 6.5, a cooler, and a grill. Notably, attendance isn’t required to win these prizes, making it accessible to everyone.

For those interested in supporting the cause, raffle tickets can be purchased through various platforms. Get more details at the Facebook Page:

Additionally, a dedicated account has been set up at Red River Federal Credit Union for monetary donations. For more call 903.559.4173.

As the community gathers for this special day, the memory of Megan, Ashlin, and Katie Jo remains alive, touching lives through scholarships and fostering a sense of togetherness. Their legacy continues to inspire and uplift, ensuring that their beautiful smiles shine on.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
