A suspect in a deadly shooting has been apprehended following an intensive investigation and manhunt. On July 6, 2024, at approximately 5:42 p.m., the New Boston Police Department responded to a shooting call in the 300 block of N. Linsey St. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims, both 19 years old. Nicholas Webster of Jefferson, Texas, was transported to the hospital in critical condition, while Princeton Washington of Linden, Texas, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The shooter was identified as 19-year-old Malaki Beckham of New Boston. Witnesses reported seeing Beckham fleeing the scene in the victim’s vehicle. Following an intensive investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for Malaki on July 7, 2024.

A multi-agency manhunt ensued, and on July 11, 2024, Malaki was located in Clarksville, Texas. New Boston Police, with assistance from the Bowie County Sheriff’s Department, Bowie County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, U.S. Marshals Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, NE Texas Auto Theft Task Force, and the Red River County Sheriff’s Department, apprehended Malaki without incident. He was transported to the Red River County Jail.

The swift and coordinated efforts of these agencies have brought a suspect into custody, providing some measure of justice for the victims and their families.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
