So, we decided to do this at 4:30 am when the temperature was at 0° F. Take some boiling water, and toss the water into the freezing air for an awesome effect… it’s not often that you can do this in our neck of the woods.

When you boil water, you’re adding energy to water in its liquid state. Because they’re so hot, those tiny water droplets start to vaporize. But since cold air can’t hold as much water vapor as warmer air, the water condenses. Extremely cold temperatures quickly freeze the water droplets, which fall as ice crystals. Be careful, even though the water will turn to vapor in the air, it will still burn your skin if you spill it on you.
