Oktoberfest is returning to downtown Texarkana for another year of food, music, games and family fun.
Main Street’s Oktoberfest is set for Saturday, October 3rd, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Front Street Plaza and Broad Street. Admission is free.
Organizers say this year’s event will feature German-inspired food and drinks, local artists and makers, businesses and nonprofits, specialty beverages and plenty of interactive activities.
Beer enthusiasts will have several new breweries to check out, including Four State Fermenters, Lost Forty Brewery and Southern Tail Brewing from Little Rock, The Eagle, and Fat Jack’s.
The event also includes the Bier Olympics, with two-person teams competing from 6 to 7 p.m. Events include the Weenie Toss, Stein Holding and Keg Rolling. Teams cost $50, with all proceeds donated to Main Street. The first-place team will take home $300.
There will also be plenty for families and children, including face painting, hair braiding, bounce houses, an inflatable obstacle course, basketball hoops and a putt-putt course.
And one of the more unusual attractions will be an exotic petting zoo, featuring animals including a llama and a kangaroo.
A football watch party, cornhole and beer pong will also be part of the festivities.
Live entertainment will take place on the Front Street stage, beginning with Jase and Heather Linn from 5 to 6:30 p.m. German variety show performances will follow at 6:45, 7:15 and 7:45, with Common Ground taking the stage at 8 p.m.
Organizers are inviting the community to come downtown October 3rd for an evening of live music, local food, family activities and Oktoberfest spirit.
