One ArkLaTex Teen Dead Another Critical After Failed Car-Jacking

One teen is dead and another at an ArkLaTex hospital in critical condition after attempting to steal a vehicle at gunpoint over the weekend.

One teen is dead in Shreveport and another in critical condition at University Health Hospital in Shreveport after the youths tried to steal a truck at a convenience store parking lot in Shreveport Saturday night.

The driver of the truck had gone into the Circle K store, leaving a passenger waiting in the vehicle. Two young males came from around the corner of the truck and pulled the passenger out at gunpoint. The two would be carjackers got into the truck on the passenger side and the man pulled from the truck was able to retrieve his own weapon and fire on the alleged thieves. The young man on the passenger side was killed and the young man that moved into the driver’s seat was struck in the abdomen and is in critical condition now.

Shreveport Police identified the dead youth as 16-year-old Grandson Johnson of Shreveport. Charges are pending against the 17-year-old accomplice for his role in the crime.

The incident remains under active investigation by SPD.
