A shooting incident early Monday morning, November 18, 2024, has left one man critically injured and another in custody facing multiple charges. Officers from the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Vernal and Bramble Streets around 2:00 a.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found numerous spent cartridge cases scattered on the street and several other items of evidence. The area was immediately secured to preserve any potential evidence for investigation.
A short time later, officers from the Texarkana Texas Police Department (TTPD) informed TAPD that a 26-year-old man, later identified as Tracy Davis, had arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. Davis’s injuries are believed to be linked to the shooting on Vernal Street, and he is currently in critical condition.
Detectives from the TAPD Criminal Investigation Division were quickly called in to investigate. Through their inquiry, they determined that a group of suspects had arrived at the intersection of Vernal and Bramble Streets and began firing into a residence on Vernal Street. During the exchange of gunfire, Davis was accidentally struck in the head by a bullet fired by one of his fellow accomplices. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene, transporting Davis to the hospital to seek medical attention.
Detectives later identified Timothy Demery, 21, as the driver of the suspect vehicle. Demery was arrested on charges of Terroristic Act (66 counts), Tampering with Evidence, and Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle. As of now, no additional suspects have been named in the case, and authorities continue to investigate the incident.
TAPD is asking anyone with information related to the shooting or the suspects involved to come forward. Sergeant Easley of the TAPD Criminal Investigation Division can be contacted at 903-798-3154.
This is an ongoing investigation, and further updates will be provided as more details become available.
