Police Seeking Suspect in Theft from Elderly Relative

The Texarkana Texas Police are seeking the location of Amanda Hughes. Hughes has a warrant for Theft of Property involving an elderly victim. She allegedly made a bunch of unauthorized ATM withdrawals for cash that totaled almost $4,500.

    Media Release:

We’re looking for Amanda Hughes, who has a felony warrant for Theft of Property over $2,500 involving an elderly victim.

A 71 year old relative of Amanda let her use her credit card so her two young children would have some food to eat and clothes to wear. However, Amanda apparently saw that as more of an opportunity to get some money for herself. She took advantage of the victim’s concern for her children and started using the card to make a bunch of unauthorized ATM withdrawals for cash. Detective Warren Smith has been able to confirm that she made at least twelve separate withdrawals using the relative’s card over the summer that totaled almost $4,500. Probably much to her chagrin, she was captured on camera each and every time she pulled up to the ATMs to take out some more money.

Detective Smith managed to talk to Hughes a couple times on the phone during the investigation. After the warrant was issued, she agreed to turn herself in last Wednesday. However, she has yet to show up so now we’re asking for your help to find her.

We’ve made a reservation on Amanda Hughes’ behalf for accommodations in the luxurious Bi-State Jail and look forward to her being able to take advantage of them. Let’s give her that chance sooner rather than later, shall we?

If you know where she is now, please give us a call at 903-798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at 903-793-STOP.
