Some of the recreational areas at Wright Patman Lake will be open this Labor Day weekend, but there is still a great deal of damage in most areas of the lake from the recent record setting floods.
Some of the camping areas will be open this weekend, though there are still a great many campsites that have damage from the historic floods this year. When the lake level passed 255 feet it broke the record that was set in 1966.
It’s estimated that 40% of the lake recreational areas are available for use, and will be open Labor Day weekend. However, the swimming area of Wright Patman will be closed for the rest of the season. Next up is to replace the courtesy docks at boat ramps, but that project will not get underway until after Labor Day.
