Texarkana Arkansas Mayor Allen Brown and Miller County Judge Cathy Harrison will address the media on Thursday at 2:00 pm, as they have now created a separate Emergency Operations Center to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Officials ensure an open line of communication with the City of Texarkana, Texas and Bowie County and continue to share the joint Texarkana Corona Website at this time. Earlier today the Texarkana Joint Operations Center reported treatment of 9 positive cases from Bowie County, 2 positive cases from Miller County and 1 active positive case from Cass County. Remembering that Texarkana Texas is a medical hub for a larger region our local Health Authority, Dr. Matt Young said in an earlier address that there is well over 150 cases in our area that are being treated as “presumptive”, meaning they have not received test results to indicate otherwise at this time.

    Press Release by Krist Bennett:

In keeping with the spirit of the State of Arkansas directive to minimize
gatherings, the city of Texarkana, Arkansas and Miller County has established
an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at the Miller County Office of
Emergency Management, located at 1007 Jefferson Avenue, Texarkana,
Arkansas.  This will allow for the appropriate number of agency representatives
to work together in the EOC.  We are committed to making the best decisions
possible for every citizen of Miller County and ask for your continued support
and understanding.  We will continue to stay in contact with Governor
Hutchinson and our local Legislators to ensure an open line of communication
which will include the City of Texarkana, Texas and Bowie County.

Miller County Judge Cathy Harrison and Mayor Allen Brown will host a Press
Conference on Thursday, April 2 nd at 2:00 pm in the Bi-State Justice Training
Center.  Social distancing will be adhered to including screening of participants.
