This really is our favorite time of the year, Christmas in Texarkana. Thanks to our community sponsors at Tony Langford Roofing and Whiskey River Country Club here is the rundown of live entertainment the weekend of December 19 & 20.

Get ready for a full day of festive fun, laughter, and holiday magic at the Perot Theatre as the community is invited to lace up, cozy up, and celebrate the season in a big way. Right out front, the ice skating rink sets the tone for the day with the playful challenge of seeing who can pull off a perfect figure eight on the ice, welcoming skaters of all ages from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for just $5 per skater (a signed waiver is required, with the last skaters hitting the ice at 6:30). Surrounding the rink, the holiday atmosphere continues with food trucks, local vendors, cheerful carolers, carriage rides, and activities designed to keep the entire family entertained from morning through evening. Inside the historic theatre, classic Christmas movies, starting with Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmas at 10:00 a.m. for $6, followed by Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas at 2:00 p.m. for $6, and wrapping up with National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation at 7:00 p.m. for $8. For those looking to make the day extra special, limited holiday packages are available, including the SANTA VIP experience at 10:00 a.m. for $20, which includes movie admission plus a meet-and-greet with Santa and friends in the Mezzanine, and the WHO FEAST package at 2:00 p.m. for $30, featuring movie admission and a Whoville-style snack on stage with the Grinch himself. Movie lovers can also take advantage of the All Day Movie Pass for $15, the perfect option for catching every film at one low price. Tickets and packages are on sale now at www.perottheatre.org or through the Perot Theatre box office (please note that an additional ticketing fee applies to online purchases), and for more information, guests can call 903-792-4992 or email info@perottheatre.org to plan their perfect holiday outing.

The Beverly Community Center will be glowing with holiday spirit — and a splash of pink — during its 2nd Annual Pink Christmas Holiday Celebration, happening Friday, December 19, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at 901 Lumpkin Street. Families are invited to come together for an evening filled with Christmas magic, warm meals, and genuine community connection, all wrapped in the cheerful theme, “Where Christmas Magic Meets a Touch of Pink.” Guests are encouraged to bring their holiday cheer and wear their favorite pink as they enjoy visits with Santa, a festive holiday dinner, fun fellowship, and special giveaways designed to make the season a little brighter for everyone. This family-friendly celebration is all about spreading joy, sharing smiles, and creating memories together — and everyone is welcome.

After more than 40 years with commercial broadcasting, I decided to do my own thing by blogging, and taking "unconsultant" gigs. It affords me the ability to stay super involved in the community, but still, have plenty of time with my 3 granddaughters and other projects.
